Mass Volunteer opportunities for Confirmation Students
All baptized have a responsibility for the liturgy, to place themselves and their God-given talents at the service of the liturgical community whenever possible. Whether it is serving at the altar, providing music that augments the joy, solemnity and festivity of the celebration or serving the assembled community as an usher, each of us contributes to the worship of the community and fulfills our responsibility that comes with Baptism.
Please see the descriptions below for each liturgical position available to our confirmation students. If you are interested in one of these, please complete the green form to get started.

altar serving
The Altar Server ministry is available as a volunteer opportunity for our confirmation students. Servers carry the cross, the processional candles, hold the book for the priest celebrant when he is not at the altar, carry the incense and censer, present the bread, wine, and water to the priest during the preparation of the gifts or assist him when he receives the gifts from the people, wash the hands of the priest, assist the priest celebrant and deacon as necessary.
Altar Server MC
An Altar Server MC assists, guides and, when necessary, steps in for younger altar servers to promote a seamless rite. The master of ceremonies job entails organizing the servers and answering questions before Mass, directing them and filling in as needed during the rite and providing constructive feedback afterward. It does not usurp the servers’ role. This role is for experienced, properly trained altar servers.
5:00 Pm Sunday Choir
The primary role of the choir is to pray the Mass. The choir sings the Mass just as the priest celebrates the Mass. Sacred Music is part of the liturgy and the role of the choir is to pray them through singing. Leading others to pray is the secondary role and it only happens when the choir members themselves are praying. God should be the center of the liturgy.
Jr. sacristan
|
|
The Sacristan is responsible for making sure that all is in order before a liturgy, and that all is back in place following the liturgy. A Junior Sacristan shadows the sacristan to learn the responsibilities and help as needed. The responsibilities of a Sacristan include preparing the sacramental wine and hosts, making sure that the vestments are in order, and putting out the goblets, patens and purificators before mass. Sacristans are also needed for funerals and other liturgies that are celebrated throughout the year.
USHER/St. Meinrad Hospitality ministry
Ushers/St. Meinrad Hospitality Ministry volunteers extend the "Welcoming" tradition of Saint Ann as they greet and welcome parishioners and guests at the weekend Masses and special events held on our parish campus. Ushers are responsible for caring for the assembly during mass. This ranges from welcoming people as they arrive for mass, to distributing bulletins.
Sunday 5:00 pm Mass Screens
The volunteer will run the screen presentation during mass to aid the congregation in participation in the mass. If you are interested and have not run the screens before, please contact Katie Dyer for training. If you have been trained, please sign up at this link.
If you are interested in serving in any of these roles please contact Katie Dyer at 901.373.6011 or [email protected]
